Reminder - Calls for Features & Upcoming Branch Cut

Hello everyone,

A reminder that branch cut for release 2.9 is Monday, Sept 8th (full list of key dates below). Also, a reminder that features are now being tracked as Github issues. (More details on this changes can be found in the previous announcement here.)

See here for the 2.9 feature list thus far and please add your feature especially if you’d like it to be included in the 2.9 release blogpost.
To add a feature:

  • Create a new issue (New Issue > Release highlight for Proposed Feature) or
  • Tag an existing RFC with the release-feature-request tag.

In both cases, be sure to include details of what will be available in release 2.9, relevant tutorials and the blogpost writeup for said feature.

Release 2.9 Key Dates:

  • M1: Release Announcement (08/13)
  • M2: Land Target PRs in PyTorch repo - DEADLINE (09/05)
  • M3.1: Release branch cut (09/08)
  • M3.2: Release first RC1 Binary for PyTorch Core (09/10)
  • M3.3: Ecosystem libraries cut RC Branch (09/11)
  • M4: Release branch finalized, Announce final launch date, new features published (week of 09/29) - Final RC is produced.
  • M4.1 Tutorial drafts submission deadline (10/08)
  • M5: External-Facing Content Finalized (10/10)
  • M6: Release Day (10/15)
