Hello everyone,

This is to confirm that there will be no PyTorch 2.8.1 release and the next release will be of PyTorch 2.9 with release planned for mid October ([full list of key dates](https://dev-discuss.pytorch.org/t/pytorch-release-2-9-0-key-dates/3178)).

We will be moving all outstanding items from the [2.8.1 milestone](https://github.com/pytorch/pytorch/milestone/56) to the [2.9.0 milestone](https://github.com/pytorch/pytorch/milestone/55).

A reminder as well to please add your feature RFCs [here](https://github.com/pytorch/pytorch/issues?q=is%3Aissue%20state%3Aopen%20label%3Arelease-feature-request) and that branch cut is on September 9th.

Thank you and please reach out with any questions.

Cheers,

Team PyTorch
