# How to get started with open-source contributing

Hi I am a researcher looking to get started with open-source contributions to pytorch. How do I best explore the codebase so that if and when I start working on a issue, I won’t get too confused and can find my way about easily.

i.e. how best would I go about understanding the code and are there certain topics that I need to learn about that will help me in this task?
